Ornan’s Threshing Floor:

Ornan’s Threshing Floor:

Ornan's Threshing Floor is a selection of journal entries, sermon parts and pieces, and both secular and faith-based writings by Stephen Carey, pastor of Main Street Mission. Main Street Mission was a nondenominational Christian inner-city storefront outreach ministry dedicated to “the least of these” in downtown Manchester, NH. for over 23 years. Steve is the father of three great boys and husband of over 35 years to Carol. They live in southern New Hampshire with a springer spaniel named Oreo. Stephen has authored a series of woodworking books entitled, "Laminated Wood Art Made Easy," which can be found on his woodworking website www.WoodArt.biz.

Ornan and his threshing floor

Ornan the Jebusite was a Gentile who lived during the time of David, King of Israel. He owned a grain processing area called a threshing floor on the top of a mountain called Moriah. This threshing floor was used to separate chaff and debris from the precious wheat. As a gentile, I would also like to offer something of value to anyone who may have an interest in separating and processing the more practical aspects of faith and life or just enjoying a good story. Whether just stories or snapshots of my past, some from the depths of sorrow and joy, both are offered here for any reader to glean from or enjoy. Ornan offered his threshing floor as a gift to King David in thanks to God and the people of God (I Chron 21:23). It is my hope that within my joy and pain you might may find a laugh, a nod, a guffaw, an agreement or disagreement, a chuckle or tear in celebration of our commonness and diversity.
